To install Docker on Ubuntu we need to start by updating ubuntu packages :

$ sudo apt-get update

Then we will install the following packages : apt-transport-https, ca-certificates, curl , gnupg-agent, software-properties-common

$ sudo apt-get install \
    apt-transport-https \
    ca-certificates \
    curl \
    gnupg-agent \
    software-properties-common

Then we install docker :

$ apt install docker.io

Now we can check the docker version using :

$ docker --version
